Join us for lunch and a lively panel discussion as The Public Relations Society of America, Cincinnati Chapter and Cincinnati Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists discuss the changing newsroom.

The event will be moderated by Hagit Limor,  former investigative reporter; associate professor of electronic media at UC.

Pam and Jennifer will discuss their award-winning Blacksmith media relations campaigns and how they successfully penetrated through the clutter of all the media messages that bombard the public. Jen also provided insight into the TV news industry having worked in it for more than 10 years before making her transition into PR four years ago.

Mike Canan, 37, is the Senior Director for Content Strategy with the E.W. Scripps Company, based here in Cincinnati. In that role, he works with Scripps TV stations across the country to help them deliver compelling, interesting news content. He previously served as editor of WCPO.com. In that role, he led the station's innovative digital journalism team. WCPO is the first local broadcast TV station in the country to launch a paid membership service. Before working at WCPO.com, Canan served as the managing editor for Scripps Treasure Coasts Newspapers in Florida where he ran the day-to-day operations of the newsroom. Canan is a graduate of Ohio University and holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism. He lives in Norwood with his wife and two sons. 

Michael Kilian is senior news director at Enquirer Media in Cincinnati. In his role, he oversees much of the local news report online at Cincinnati.com and in the printed Cincinnati Enquirer. He has worked for Gannett Co. Inc. news sites for much of the past quarter-century, including in Upstate New York, Vermont and Maryland before coming to Ohio in early 2015. He is a graduate of Cornell University and is a member of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati.
