“FINALISTS” ANNOUNCED FOR
2019 EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM CONTEST
Congratulations to numerous journalists and media outlets who have been named “finalists” in the 2019 Excellence In Journalism contest sponsored by the Greater Cincinnati Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
The judging was done by members of the Arkansas SPJ Pro Chapter. There were some categories where judges didn’t pick a winner or finalist. There were others with only a winner and no finalists.
Some had a winner and finalist(s). The names here are listed alphabetically.
“Winners” in each category will be announced during the EIJ Awards Program on June 27th at the downtown Cincinnati offices of Frost Brown Todd. The awards are being presented in conjunction with the Greater Cincinnati Journalism Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Former Cincinnati Post Editor and Scripps Howard Foundation President Mike Philipps will be inducted along with long-time WCPO-TV anchors Clyde Gray and Carol William. Posthumous induction will be held for John (1811-1865) and Charles (1813-1840) Brough. The Brough brothers established the Cincinnati Enquirer on April 10, 1841, changing the name of the Cincinnati Advertiser they purchased in 1840.
The evening begins with a reception from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the program starts at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $35.00 and can be purchased through the EventBrite site by using the following link.
