We hope this email finds all of you well. As we review our submissions for the 2021 contest, we have noticed that many of you have not yet submitted entries. Those of us at the SPJ professional chapters in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus hope that you plan to enter the contest this year–it goes without saying we want you back.

Every year, contest judges from around the country praise the high quality of work submitted by Ohio journalists. Please help us celebrate all journalists in the state by submitting entries for your work in 2020. We have extended the deadline to June 7, so there's plenty of time. Please share this info with any of your colleagues–and let us know if there's anything we can do to help–contact@ohiospjawards.org

Just a reminder that your participation advances the journalism profession and supports scholarship programs for aspiring college and high school journalists administered by Ohio SPJ chapters.

Our annual statewide contest is presented collaboratively by the Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland Pro Chapters of The Society of Professional Journalists and honors print, broadcast, digital, trade, freelance and college journalists in Ohio for their best work during 2020.

Our contest is the only Ohio competition that honors journalists who fulfill the SPJ mission: defense of the First Amendment, support of literacy, resistance to censorship, advocacy for openness of public records and meetings, media self-criticism and community service. Our contest also has several categories for college journalists.

Thank you for your consideration and support of the Ohio SPJ Contest. We look forward to receiving your submissions!
