SPJ's 15th Annual Ethics Week - April 23-27

SPJ's 15th annual Ethics Week is just two weeks away! Now, more than ever, it's important that journalism be truthful, compassionate, independent and transparent.

We’re bringing our A-game for Ethics Week this year and have some awesome things in the works, like:
  • Being featured on billboards in Times Square
  • Publishing an e-book that will educate people about journalism ethics
  • Moderating a Twitter chat where journalists – like you – will (hopefully) explain your practices to members of the public
  • Hosting a webinar where you can learn about all things ethics
GET INVOLVED
Need ideas for possible events to host? We’ve got you covered.

  • Host a Media Open House where you invite the public to meet and connect with local editors, producers and journalists.
  • Plan a Choose Your Own Quest, Ethics Style event, where participants walk through a tricky scenario and try to make the best ethical choices.
  • Get a group together to play Ethics Hotline Bling or put together a Fake News Game Show like Florida SPJ.
  • Moderate a panel discussion either in person or on Twitter around an ethics topic. Include both local journalists and members of the public.
Can’t host an event, but want to get involved anyway?

  • Share why ethical journalism is important to you on social media using the hashtag #PressForEthics.
  • Direct your friends, family and members of the public to ethics.spj.org to learn more about SPJ's Code of Ethics.
  • Request Code of Ethics bookmarks and posters or print the downloadable copies to share in your communities.
  • Keep us in the loop as you make plans for ethics week so we can add you to the master calendar of all things journalism ethics.
We hope you’re as excited for Ethics Week as we are. We look forward to hearing about how you will celebrate!
