Best Practices in Trauma-Informed Interviewing

The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma will deliver a 75-minute training focused on ethical and effective interviewing within a broader discussion of trauma awareness and self care. The training will cover best practices in interviewing traumatized or highly vulnerable sources, how to establish and maintain effective boundaries with sources as well as manage harassment and bullying from sources, subjects and news consumers. There will be ample time for Q&A and discussion.
The training will be led by Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center, professor of journalism ethics at Columbia Journalism School and an expert on the occupational health of journalists.
